The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) plans to convene a one-day Research Agenda Workshop scheduled to take place on 13th September 2019 at the New Building, Kabale University Main Campus. This activity is in line with the FASS Action Plan 2019/20 and is one of the key outputs during the 2019/2020 Academic Year. This activity was approved by the Senate for implementation by each Faculty.
The Directorate of Postgraduate Training and Research implored all Faculties to have their Research Agenda as a condition to access seed funds committed by the University for the Directorate for research. In his own words, Assoc. Prof. Caleb Tamwesigire, observed that the “ The approved Research Agenda is not only a Strategic requirement by the University and FASS, but it will open windows of opportunities for the Faculty’s effective competition in National and International Academic grants; Conducting International Conferences and upscaling Research and publications” The issues paper is available and disseminated, is a primary document prepared by the Internal and External academic scholars, It highlights the guiding principles, practice and demand driven thematic themes and areas for engaging the FASS in Research, Publications and Innovations outcomes.
The preparations for this workshop are in advanced stages; a key note speaker for Makerere University, Ass. Prof. Vincent Ssembatya identified and invitations for the expected 70 participants has been made. This activity is under the overall Coordination of the Dean and Coordinated by Dr. Barigye Godfrey, Senior Lecturer, Department of SWASA and Governance.
