Kabale University, in partnership with the Makerere University Gender Mainstreaming Directorate, will host leadership training workshops under the project “Enhancing Women’s Participation and Visibility in Leadership and Decision Making in Universities in Uganda.” This initiative seeks to strengthen leadership capacities among staff and promote gender equality in leadership and decision-making spaces within higher education institutions.
The workshops will run from 2nd to 4th September 2025 and will be conducted in three categories as follows:
- Tuesday, 2nd September 2025 – Women Only (PU7–PU6)
The first session will target 45 women staff (both teaching and non-teaching) in the PU7–PU6 category. The purpose is to nurture a pool of potential future female leaders among early career senior staff. - Wednesday, 3rd September 2025 – Women Only (PU5–PU1)
The second session will bring together 45 female staff members in middle-level and senior leadership/management positions (PU5–PU1). In addition, the afternoon session will feature participants from Category A of the first day, promoting cross-learning and mentorship. - Thursday, 4th September 2025 – Men Only (PU7–PU1)
The final session will engage 45 senior male staff (PU7–PU1) in discussions on the role of men in promoting gender equality and social justice, fostering an inclusive culture of leadership within the University.
This training underscores Kabale University’s commitment to creating a gender-responsive academic and administrative environment where both men and women can thrive in leadership and decision-making roles.
