Kabale University (KAB) has seen a significant increase in its research profile, between 2022 and 2026. Despite these achievements, institutional engagement remains concentrated in a few areas, and several international MoUs and collaboration agreements have been secured and they remain under utilized.
This workshop aims to start a process that will transition KAB from a “mobility partner” to a “consortium lead” by leveraging existing networks such as RUFORUM, AAU, IAU and IUCEA.
Objectives
Undertake a five-day “Live-Lab” workshop to equip 50 academic staff (20 Senior, 30 Junior) with the technical skills to win Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ grants.
The training will staff to the Kabale University Strategic Plan (2025/26 – 2029/30) thematic focus of academic excellence, financial sustainability, and research innovation.
Scope of Work and Methodology
We intend to use a “Live Lab” approach, where participants are organized into thematic clusters (e.g., Energy, Health, ICT) to work on actual live or upcoming EU calls.
The 5-Day Program Includes:
Day 1: EU landscape decoding and activating existing MoUs.
Day 2: Consortium building using RUFORUM, AAU, and IUCEA networks.
Day 3: Technical writing for “Excellence” and “Impact” sections.
Day 4: Technical writing for “Implementation,” including Euro-based budgeting and Work Packages.
Day 5: Mock evaluations and finalization of a submission roadmap.
This 5-day sketch is subject to adjustment based on the participants online needs assessment.
