Kabale University (KAB) will hold an Advisory Committee for Feasibility Meeting under the Responsible Critical Thinking (RESPECT) project. This meeting is part of the continuous engagement process to guide and review the progress of the project aimed at establishing and independently managing a postgraduate programme in Human Rights at KAB.
The Advisory Committee for Feasibility comprises university leaders, academic staff, postgraduate students, representatives from the district administration, and the Batwa community. The committee plays a key role in ensuring that project activities are aligned with KAB’s vision and the broader societal needs of Uganda and East Africa.
About the RESPECT Project
The Responsible Critical Thinking (RESPECT) project is a collaborative initiative between Lund University (LU) in Sweden and Kabale University (KAB) in Uganda, funded by the Swedish Institute (2024–2026). The main objective of RESPECT is to build KAB’s capacity to deliver a high-quality postgraduate programme in Human Rights.
The project emphasizes addressing the human rights challenges faced by marginalized groups in East Africa, focusing on how advanced research can be leveraged to protect these communities.
Through RESPECT, KAB seeks to become a leading agent of societal transformation in the East African region, contributing to the realization of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), which promotes democracy and social justice.
