Marking the Antimicrobial Awareness Week

Annually, the world commemorates World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) to raise awareness of and knowledge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to promote best practices among individuals and key stakeholders who are instrumental in preventing the formation and spread of AMR. Enhancing knowledge and comprehension of AMR through effective communication, education, and training is one of the main goals of The Kabale Antimicrobial Resistance Stewardship Club (KABAMRS).

To mark World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18-24th November 2022) with the rest of the world.  The Kabale Antimicrobial Resistance Stewardship Club (KABAMRS) is holding a sensitization workshop on antimicrobial resistance and a tournament that will be concluded on the 23rd of November.

The workshop is anchored on this year’s WAAW theme: “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together”.  The workshop touch on:

  • The impact of Antimicrobial Resistance on Agriculture and the Environment and the efforts towards correcting the problem.
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship especially on the use of essential medicines as a tool to support antibiotic stewardship efforts.
  • The Kabale University Antimicrobial Stewardship Club will also showcase the activities and milestones they have achieved in the fight against antimicrobial resistance in Kigezi.
  • Case study presentation on the effects of antimicrobial resistance in treatment.

The workshop will take place on Friday, 18th November 2022 9:00 am to 12 noon, at the KABSOM Main Hall.
