ABCD Portal Co-Creation Session for Stakeholders in the Kigezi Sub-Region

Kabale University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) and the Makerere Innovation and Incubation Centre (MIIC), will host a one-day Area-Based Commodity Development (ABCD) Portal Co-Creation Session on 29th June 2026 at the MTN Spak Hub, Kabale University. The event forms part of a national initiative aimed at strengthening the implementation and operationalization of the ABCD Portal, a digital platform designed to provide microeconomic data and insights on regional value chains across Uganda.

The co-creation session will bring together key stakeholders from across the Kigezi sub-region, including production officers, commercial officers, cultural leaders, religious leaders, innovators, farmers, private sector actors and development partners. Participants will contribute valuable perspectives towards designing an effective operational framework and data pipeline for the portal.

During the engagement, participants will explore the ABCD Portal framework, examine stakeholder roles and responsibilities, identify implementation needs and challenges, and collaboratively develop solutions to enhance data collection, management, and utilization. The session will also provide an opportunity to build consensus on practical approaches for supporting evidence-based planning and regional economic development.

As one of the participating public universities supporting the implementation of the ABCD Portal, Kabale University is proud to facilitate this important dialogue that promotes innovation, collaboration, and data-driven development across communities and value chains.
