RESPECT Workshop 1: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Human Rights

The Responsible Critical Thinking (RESPECT) project is a collaborative initiative between Lund University (LU) in Sweden and Kabale University (KAB) in Uganda. This initiative aims to enhance KAB’s capacity to establish and independently manage a postgraduate program in Human Rights. A key focus is placed on marginalized communities in East Africa, exploring how their human rights can be safeguarded through advanced research.

Supported by the Swedish Institute (2024–2026), the RESPECT project seeks to foster positive societal change by promoting human rights and interdisciplinary research approaches. By strengthening KAB’s academic and research capabilities, the project contributes to the United Nations’ 16th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 16), which advocates for democracy and social justice.
